In addition to those American forces already hosted by the South, an additional 14,000 are currently involved in the Key Resolve joint manouvers. The USS Chafee is one of two Aegis-class destroyers taking part in the exercises. That its captain is a Korean-American born in Incheon may provide historic symbolism for those that wish to see it. The Chafee is scheduled to remain in waters off the Korean coast for a while after the training drill’s March 20th end date.
